VITA provides free tax preparation services to individuals and families with low to moderate income, offering them the support needed to maximize their refunds and achieve greater financial stability. Join the VITA program and make a meaningful impact by providing free tax preparation services to individuals and families in need. Whether you enjoy working directly with clients or prefer behind-the-scenes roles, we have a place for you! Volunteer with FoodShare Berkeley County in 2025

FoodShare Berkeley County, powered by Trident United Way, provides the opportunity for individuals to invest in their health and gain access to fresh, quality food at an affordable cost. Fresh Food Boxes are available every other week and include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables at an affordable price. Boxes can be purchased with SNAP benefits or with a credit/debit card. Volunteers are needed to help assemble the Fresh Food Boxes every other week. Lead United – Accepting Applications NOW!

Lead United is a comprehensive community leadership and nonprofit board development program. The purpose of Lead United is to equip participants with necessary skills to serve on a nonprofit board of directors. This six week program focuses on educating professionals and skill-building for board-level service opportunities. Additionally, participants will increase their understanding of community challenges for deeper engagement. During the program, participants will hear from content experts at Trident United Way and a myriad of community partners and current nonprofit board members. Heart Math Tutoring- Volunteer Info Session January 15

Support a child in CCSD with just 1 hour per week! Heart Math Tutoring trains and supports volunteers as tutors to work one-on-one with elementary students to build foundational math skills and confidence. With the support of an on-site coordinator, volunteers use an easy-to-follow, proven curriculum featuring hands-on activities and games. Volunteers work with the same student(s) all year building a relationship and strengthening skills. No need to be a “math person” - if you can count and do basic math, you can make a difference in the life of a child! YWCA’s Annual MLK Parade- January 20

YWCA’s Annual MLK parade is taking place on January 20. Trident United Way will be participating in the parade and welcomes anyone who would like to walk alongside TUW Staff & Leadership. The parade will start promptly at 9am from Burke High School. If you would like to join us we do ask that at least one person in your group sign up on our volunteer portal so we can notify you all about meeting locations, changes, what to bring, etc. – TUW Parade Participant Registration

First Steps of SC- MLK Day of Service Opportunities

First Steps of South Carolina is looking for volunteers to come together for a statewide read-aloud and book distribution during MLK Day of Service and throughout the week of January 15-19. They are looking for volunteers to read to students, donate so each child in a participating classroom has a brand-new book of their own, and to spread the word about this opportunity! Bookshelf Assembly and other Library Assistance

Pinehurst Elementary School will be hosting a book fair in Spring 2025 but they are looking for volunteers to help assemble shelving to house the books in the meantime. If that doesn’t work for you, they would love to have volunteers assist at the library and help with checking in/out books, shelving books, labeling new books and general library support. This commitment is very flexible and most days between 8am-230pm are open. Come for an hour or stay longer… whatever your schedule allows. Palmetto Pride Francis Marion National Forest Cleanup-February 2024

Every year, on the first Saturday of February, volunteers descend on the small town of Huger, SC to participate in a cleanup of the Francis Marion National Forest, which is one of SC’s two national forests. The forest is a crucial economic and natural resource in SC. To protect this resource, PalmettoPride, along with dozens of partners and hundreds of volunteers, host a cleanup to remove trash and litter from the forest. Hope to Home helps provide basic home furnishings to individuals and families in our community who are coming out of distressed situations and striving toward a new life on purpose. They are currently looking for volunteers to help with minor repairs and painting on Tuesdays and furniture deliveries on Saturdays. Random Acts of Kindness Week- February 10-14, 2025

Join Trident United Way for our annual Random Acts of Kindness Week! Help collect or donate household, cleaning and everyday supplies to benefit low income or transitioning families in the Tri-County Area. All items will be distributed to agencies serving individuals and families struggling with poverty or transitioning to stable housing. Often times, these essential items are considered “luxury” items for those struggling. Read Across America Day – Friday, March 7, 2025

Join TUW on March 7, 2025 for the 8th Annual Read Across America Day! Volunteers will visit classrooms to share their love of reading with a book (or two) to students in Child Development through 3rd grade! Volunteers can be as creative as they like using fun props, costumes, backdrops and more! Either way, your reading will help inspire a future generation of readers!
